Open any university on your list and choose Find scholarships. We search the live web for that school's own awards, drop anything with a broken link or an application fee, and keep only what fits your profile: awards that match your major, state or GPA, and awards open to students of any major. Scholarships for other majors, other states or current college students are left out.
- University-wide awards: merit and need-based scholarships that you apply for.
- Honors and special programs: honors college and named scholar programs, which usually need their own application.
- Department awards: scholarships run by a school's college of engineering, nursing, business and so on, only for the department of your intended major.
Results are split by when you can apply. Apply now lists awards you apply for alongside your college application, which are often due before admission decisions come out. Apply once admitted lists awards that open only after you're admitted, usually through the school's scholarship portal or an invitation. Within each, the best fits for your profile come first.
Outside scholarships (national and local awards you can use at any college) are coming next.
What does it cost?
Each search costs 1 credit and always pulls fresh results. Everything after that is free: reading the details, following the apply links and saving scholarships to your list. You're only charged when a search finds at least one scholarship that fits you. A search that fails or comes back empty costs nothing.

Do you need personal details to match me?
No. We match results using only your intended major, graduation year, state and GPA, and each of those is optional. We never ask about citizenship, income, heritage, religion or gender.
Instead, every scholarship carries plain labels for who it's for, such as "First-generation students", "U.S. citizens only" or "Ohio residents". You read the labels and decide for yourself whether to apply.
What about scholarships that are automatic with admission?
We leave them out. Awards given automatically when you're admitted need nothing from you. We list the ones you have to apply for, which often have an earlier deadline than the admission deadline, so you don't miss the ones that need you to act.
How do you keep results safe?
- We never list a scholarship that charges an application fee. Legitimate scholarships don't.
- We never show a link we haven't checked, and each card shows when it was last checked.
- Details change every year, so always confirm the amount and deadline on the provider's own site before you apply.
Save and track what you apply to
Save any scholarship to your list and track it as Interested, Applying, Submitted or Won, with your own notes and a countdown to each deadline. Many of these scholarships ask for an essay, and every prompt is shown right on the card, so you can plan your writing alongside your college essays.
Frequently asked questions
How does Essay Clarity find scholarships?
When you search a university on your list, we search the live web for the scholarships that school offers: university-wide merit and need-based awards, honors programs and department awards. Every apply link is checked before it is shown, and results are added to a shared catalog so each listing shows when it was last checked.
What does a scholarship search cost?
Each search costs 1 credit, and every search pulls fresh results from the web. Reading the results, following the apply links and saving scholarships to your list are free. You are only charged when a search finds at least one scholarship that fits your profile. A search that fails or comes back empty is free.
Do I have to share personal information to see scholarships?
No. We only use optional, low-risk details to match results: your intended major, graduation year, state and GPA. We never ask about citizenship, income, heritage, religion or gender. Scholarships with requirements like those are labeled so you can decide for yourself whether you qualify.
Why don't you list scholarships that are automatic with admission?
Scholarships awarded automatically when you are admitted need nothing from you, so there is nothing to track. We list the ones you have to apply for, such as honors, department and named awards, which often have an earlier deadline than the admission deadline and are easy to miss.
Should I ever pay to apply for a scholarship?
No. Legitimate scholarships do not charge an application fee, and paying to apply is one of the most common signs of a scholarship scam. We leave out anything that charges a fee.
