Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Essay Clarity.
General & How It Works
Yes. Essay Clarity has an Insights blog with articles on topics like how the profile works, how to read inline feedback, how essay ranking works, and the thinking behind the rubric scoring system.
Yes. Open any university on your list and choose Find scholarships. We search the live web for that school's own scholarships that fit your profile and that you apply for (merit, need-based, honors and awards from the department of your intended major), check every link, and leave out anything that charges an application fee, anything automatic with admission, and anything for other majors, other states or current college students. Each search costs 1 credit and always pulls fresh results, and you are only charged when it finds something. Viewing the results and saving them to your scholarship list is free.
Students
Essay Clarity gives you one place to sharpen your Common App essay against a real six-axis rubric with line-by-line feedback, research the specific schools and professors you're applying to, and make sure every draft still sounds like you—not a template. Everything builds on one profile of your values, interests, and experiences, so the tool never nudges you to sound like someone else.
You write your essay yourself, then paste it into Essay Clarity to get scored and receive detailed feedback. The platform starts by having you fill out a profile about who you are—your values, interests, formative experiences, and intended majors—which anchors all the feedback you receive. Essay Clarity doesn't write your essay for you; it helps you sharpen what you've written and make sure it sounds authentically like you.
Yes. You can paste in two or more essay ideas and they'll be scored on the same six axes in one pass, calibrated relative to each other, so you can see exactly which draft is strongest and why before you commit to one.
Before you get any essay feedback or school research, you fill out one profile covering your core values, formative experiences, intended majors, interests, and even dealbreakers. It only takes a few minutes, and everything downstream is checked against it to ensure suggestions never push you to sound like someone else.
Yes. Essay Clarity provides a real research brief built for each school alone, including professor dossiers, so you know the specific people and programs in front of you instead of guessing what 'fit' means to an admissions reader.
Parents
Essay Clarity starts by having your child fill out a profile of their own values, interests, and formative experiences before any feedback is given. Every draft is then scored on Voice & Authenticity as one of the six core axes, with line-level feedback that flags generic or template language and anchors suggestions to who your child actually is.
You can create a free account to get started. The site mentions credits and paid usage in the Ambassador program context, but specific pricing details are not provided on the public-facing pages.
The platform is designed to support your child from blank profile to submitted application. This includes scoring their Common App essay, rating college-specific supplemental essays, and providing research briefs for each university. Everything builds on the same profile and happens inside one account.

You don't earn cash—you earn credits that can only be gifted to students who can't afford Essay Clarity. Your giftable balance and gift history are always visible in your dashboard, and credits accrue only as your paying referrals actually use theirs.
No. You should share your link with fellow educators, tutors, counselors, parents, and students you don't currently teach or grade—you should not refer students you have direct authority over. This keeps the program clear of any conflict of interest.

Essays & Feedback
That overall score is the average across the six axes—Voice, Specificity, Insight, Focus, Structure, and Distinctiveness—each graded 1–10. It gives you a snapshot of where your essay stands, but the real value is in the line-level feedback explaining what each score means and how to improve it.
Yes, the rubric is built to help you sharpen your draft over time. You can paste in revised versions and see how your scores change as you work, with adjustable strictness so you can raise the bar as you get closer to submission.
